Some students do not need a Job seeker/new business creator” residence card. They are:

  • European students (citizens of European Union member states, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland). They do not need a residence permit to work in France.

Required Documents from Students who have Just Graduated

You need the following documents if you have just graduated and would like to stay in France to find work or to set up your business.

  • Your passport
  • Your birth certificate
  • Three photos
  • Your valid “student” residence permit“ (or “student-mobility program”)
  • Your diploma awarded within the last year or justification proving that you passed
  • Proof of health insurance
  • Proof of your intention to set up a business related to your field of study (if relevant)
  • Proof of address no more than 3 months old.

Required Documents from Students who left France after graduating

  • Your passport
  • Your birth certificate

  • Your valid “student” residence permit“ (or “student-mobility program”)
  • Your diploma awarded within the last year or justification proving that you passed

  • Proof of your financial resources
  • Proof of your intention to set up a business related to your field of study (if relevant)
  • Proof of address no more than 3 months old.

Application Process

You can apply for the Job seeker Visa either in France at the prefecture

or at the French consulate in your country of residence, if you left France after obtaining your diploma, and within a maximum of 4 years after obtaining one of the diplomas mentioned above.

You will be issued with a long-stay visa equivalent to a residence permit (VLS-TS), stating “job seeker/new business creator”.

What to do after the Expiration of the France Job Seeker Visa

If you have found a Job or created a company before the expiration of your Job seeker Visa you must apply for a new temporary residence permit to remain in France.

Also, you can apply for a New residence permit as soon as you get a Job. You do not need to wait for the expiration of your Job seeker Visa.
