The Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva is a globally recognized leader in research, covering a wide array of scientific fields including astronomy, biology, chemistry and biochemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics, pharmaceutical sciences, earth sciences, and environmental studies. This faculty is home to two National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCR) funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SwissMAP; Planets), along with numerous European research initiatives. The Faculty’s Master’s programs provide an excellent foundation for both academic and professional careers, offering pathways into industry, education, scientific administration, communication, and media. These programs are conducted either entirely in English or in a combination of English and French, depending on the specific program.

With support from external partners, the Faculty of Science has launched an Excellence Fellowship program, designed for outstanding and highly motivated students who wish to pursue a Master of Science degree in one of the Faculty’s disciplines. Selection for this fellowship is based on academic excellence.

The Excellence Fellowship offers a grant ranging from CHF 10,000 to CHF 15,000 per year, without any teaching obligations. The fellowship is awarded for one year and may be renewed for the standard duration of the chosen Master’s program (three or four semesters), provided the recipient achieves academic success by the end of the first semester.

Whether you are currently pursuing or have recently completed an exceptional bachelor’s degree and rank among the top students in your class, this program is tailored for you. To be eligible, you must meet the admission requirements for your chosen Master’s program and be selected based on the strength of your application for the Excellence Fellowship.
