“The grass is greener on the other side”
I heard that this is the slogan of some people who relocate abroad. Indeed, the majority of those who move overseas are doing so to seek what we call, ‘greener pastures’, otherwise known as a higher paying job or career development. R

esearch has shown that this was found to be the most common reason for employee relocation by a recent survey, as implied by practically 49.3% of respondents.

One may ask… Is relocation a good idea?
You must note that a relocation might be worth it if the position you are taking in your new workplace gives an opportunity for rapid growth. A significant salary increase, sign-on incentives, a promotion or access to more relationships in your line of work are all wonderful reasons to consider relocating.

Of course, after residing in a particular country your whole life, it’s normal to feel slightly nervous about relocating to a new place.
But here are reasons why relocating can be advantageous to you and your family.

A NEW LOCATION MEANS DISCOVERING A NEW YOU
You’ll be around all new people and probably taking on a new way of living. Relocating provides a great way to continually shape the person you are and the person you want to be.

It makes you more flexible and adaptable.

You will meet a wide range of people, both locals, and ex-pats. Each friend exemplifies a world in you, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.

RELOCATING MEANS CHANGE
Whatever reason you are leaving your country, change will provide both new opportunities and challenges. It’s fun to see what’s in store for you after you relocate to a new place.

IT BRINGS ABOUT NEW ADVENTURES
Wherever you choose to relocate to is going to be different from where you’ve been used to. Embrace the change. Once you’re settled in, get out and see how your new location differs. You may just discover a new hobby depending on the location you’re moving to, like hiking, skiing, or surfing.

MOVING TO A NEW LOCATION IS A CHANCE TO GET MORE DONE
If you’re from a city where everybody seems to know everybody, it might be refreshing to be able to walk into the grocery store and not spend 40 minutes small talking with the neighbors that live down the street. If dinner is made sooner because you’re in and out in a flash, you’ll have more family time after dinner.

When you move in most cases, your cost of living will decrease. you’ll save money by not being in such high cost of living state.
International experience always has a positive impact on your career. Those who’ve been on international assignments usually are more engaging, better team players, higher performers, and in general are more likely to succeed.

RELOCATION HELPS YOU BUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE
Going overseas can be a nervous experience, this is true. But going through it and coming out from the other side gives people a greater sense of confidence in themselves. It also puts the ability to put problems into a wider perspective, making them easier to deal with.
