The Bartlett Promise Master’s Scholarship Program is a fully funded master’s scholarship open to applicants who are nationals and residents of a Bartlett-approved list of Sub-Saharan African countries and who have admission to a Bartlett master’s course to study at the University College London. This is to enable students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue a Masters program.

Eligibility Criteria
- Be a national of one of Bartlett’s approved list of Sub-Saharan African countries and resident in an eligible country. List of approved countries: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Republic of Congo, Cote D’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal Sierra Leone, Somalia (including Somaliland), South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
- Must not hold a British or dual British citizenship
- Have an offer of admission to a Bartlett Master’s course for study in 2024-25 which is either unconditional or conditional only in the English language.
- Be in financial need as assessed by University College London
In addition to these, candidates should ideally also meet at least one of the additional criteria:
- Be a forced migrant
- Be the first generation in the family to attend university at the undergraduate level
- Be the first generation in the family to attend university at the postgraduate level
How to apply
- You must apply for a master’s program from 16th October 2023 and be given admission at the University College London.
- Apply for a scholarship from 15th February to 3rd April 2024

Access to the application form will be provided on this page starting 15 February 2024. Candidates are required to finalize their Bartlett Promise application by 3 April 2024. The application form will necessitate personal details and inquiries regarding financial and family circumstances.
