The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program, generously sponsored by the Malaysian government, is specifically designed for international students specifically from developing countries. This scholarship provides an invaluable opportunity for recipients to pursue their postgraduate studies in Malaysia. Throughout their academic journey, scholars will gain critical knowledge and skills that are instrumental in fostering the development and progress of their home countries. The scholarship covers a comprehensive duration ranging from 24 to 36 months, allowing recipients to fully immerse themselves in a Master’s Degree program at esteemed Malaysian universities. About the Fully Funded Malaysia Technical Cooperation Program 

  • The application for the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program is open from June 14, 2024, until July 14, 2024.
  • This scholarship is available only for full-time Master’s Degree programs for the academic year 2024/2025.
  • The Scholarship is offered to outstanding graduates from Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program recipient countries.

What the Fully Funded Malaysia Technical Cooperation Program covers

  • Tuition fees for the entire sponsorship period will be paid directly to the university upon receipt of the invoice from the university.
  • A monthly allowance of RM3,500.00 will be deposited directly into the recipient’s Malaysian bank account.
  • A one-off return economy class airline ticket will be provided, covering travel from the student’s nearest international airport to Malaysia and back to the student’s home country.

Eligibility Criteria for the Fully Funded Malaysia Technical Cooperation Program 

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be no older than 45 years at the time of application.
  • Have obtained at least a Second Class Upper (Honours) or a minimum CGPA of 3.5 or equivalent at the undergraduate level.
  • Provide proof of English language proficiency: A scanned copy of the original proof of English language proficiency such as IELTS (minimum total score of 6) or TOEFL internet-based test (minimum total score of 60) or

Proof of a previous degree where English was the medium of instruction.

  • Have an excellent level of health certified by a doctor or physician. The cost of the medical check-up is the applicant’s responsibility. The medical report form can be downloaded from the MTCP scholarship website.

Areas of Study for the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program 

Priority will be given to the following fields:

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (excluding nursing, medicine, and clinical pharmacy)

Other areas of study include:

  • Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries
  • Economics and Finance
  • Education
  • Environment
  • International Relations and Political Science
  • Social Science and Humanities

Selection Criteria for the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program 

Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • High-level academic and extra-curricular achievements.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and reading skills in English.

Terms and Conditions for the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program 2024

  • Recipients must enroll in a full-time Master’s Degree program in Malaysia for the duration specified in the Scholarship Offer Letter.
  • Recipients must not change their program during the scholarship period without written permission from the university and the MTCP Secretariat.
  • Recipients must meet the program requirements and comply with Malaysian laws and the university’s rules, regulations, and codes of conduct.
  • Any suspension from the university will result in the immediate suspension of the award, and monthly allowances will not be paid during the suspension.
  • Successful recipients are responsible for applying for and meeting the requirements for an appropriate entry visa, including undergoing a medical examination.
  • Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress and good standing throughout the study duration as stipulated by their host university. Failure to do so will result in the scholarship being withdrawn.
  • The scholarships are tenable at Malaysian universities and studies must be conducted in Malaysia.
  • Recipients are not allowed to take any paid employment during their tenure unless they have written approval from the host university and the MTCP Secretariat.

Application Documents for the Fully Funded Malaysia Technical Cooperation Program 

Applicants must submit the following documents in the online application system (scanned and saved in PDF format) to complete their application:

  • A certified copy of your passport as evidence of nationality (minimum of 12 months validity).
  • A certified copy of your academic transcript:
  •    – Record of all courses taken throughout the degree program must be reflected in the academic transcripts.

   – Transcripts of undergraduate studies must be submitted.

  •    – An official document from the applicant’s alma mater describing the university’s grade system. If the transcript does not include information on CGPA, marks, or score percentile, these documents must be certified.
  • A certified copy of English Language Proficiency test results (TOEFL/IELTS/PTE/CAE/CPE/MUET/equivalent qualification) or an official letter from the previous institution declaring English as the medium of instruction for the obtained degree(s).
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Medical examination report downloadable from the MTCP scholarship website
  • Letters of Recommendation from two referees (downloadable from the MTCP scholarship website
  • Latest Admission Offer Letter from Malaysian universities for the academic intake of 2024 (if applicable).
