It is not enough for a scholarship to be available, you also need to know how to win one. There’s no better time for you to acquire this knowledge than now. That’s because applications for the Chevening Scholarship will be available on the 2nd of August 2022.

Chevening Scholarship is a UK Government fully funded Scholarship for candidates to study a Full time 1 Year Master Degree Program in the UK. Chevening Scholarship is available for any nationality, no restrictions. There are no country restrictions.

Furthermore, the scholarship will cover your tuition fee, accommodation, airfare tickets, books, stipend, Visa expenses, etc. But first, you need to win the scholarship. Below are some guidelines.

• For your application to be deemed outstanding, make sure you clearly link your chosen course of study to your previous experiences and future vision.
• Be very conscious of your grammar. Proofread your writings for the spelling of words and Institution names.
• Use ‘I’ instead of ‘we’ when discussing personal achievements.
• Don’t use bullet points to outline job responsibilities or future plans in your answers. They want to know as much about your goals as possible, so write in full sentences.
• Don’t copy and paste your CV, Personal Statement or Reference Letter. Assessors know when answers are copied and pasted.
• All applicants need to exemplify leadership, influencing, and relationship-building skills. You’ll also need to have a clear understanding of how studying with a UK university will help you achieve your career goals.
• For better results, please apply in more than 3 universities, at least 5 to 6 so that you can secure admission. This is because if you didn’t get the admission to any of the Universities you mentioned in your application form and get admission to 4th University (which is not mentioned in the application form) then your scholarship can still be secured.
• Then when you have been called for an interview, you can let them know about the 4th University in which you have the admission offer.

NOTE that you do not need to have an Admission Letter from University to apply for the Chevening scholarship at this point.
• Give priority to Universities in your application that you feel are the best chance of getting admission. But you can change your choice later at the interview stage.

At the interview, you will have about an hour to persuade a panel that you are worthy of this incredible opportunity. You should have these in mind:

• If you are shortlisted to interview for a Chevening Scholarship, you will be asked to attend an interview in the city/town where the British embassy or high commission has a representation.

• Book a morning slot for the interview. According to studies, teachers or interviewers tend to be brutal when they are tired. So catch them when they are in their best mood.
• You have to be consistent with your Essays because they will keep asking for details to clarify what you wrote in your essays. You should analyze your experience, your logic and motivation (why and how you did certain things), passion, and goals (what drives you forward).
• The panel will delve further into the details to understand your true motivation because that depicts an impression of self-assurance and authenticity.
