The Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships are provided by the Australian Government to support both domestic and international students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees at Monash University. As part of this program, an RTP Stipend (living allowance) is available to help support domestic and international students with living costs while studying at Monash.

- You can only submit one application per scholarship round or admission period.
- The first round for international student application closes on 31 March
- The second round for international student application closes on 31st August
- Note: The closing date for R1/2024 has been extended to 4 April 2024 due to Easter.

Eligibility criteria
- Be an international student
- Must have an offer of admission
- Meet Monash’s competitive scholarship selection process
- Meet Monash English language proficiency requirements if not from a Monash University-approved English language country.
How to apply
- Before applying for a graduate research degree, you will need to submit an expression of interest (EOI) to the relevant faculty or academic unit.
- If you are a new applicant, you must have obtained an invitation to apply from the relevant faculty before starting your application.
- Submit your applications through the Graduate Research Admission and Scholarship Application portal.
Note: Application for a graduate research scholarship is done at the time of applying for your course unless you are already enrolled. Whether you are a new or current student, the same application process is used for both admission and scholarship via the application Portal. You do not need to specify which scholarship you are applying to as you are automatically considered for all graduate research scholarships (where eligible).
