The British Council IELTS One Skill Retake 2023 is a recent scheme founded by the British Council where you can appear in a single module to enhance your score without retaking the full IELTS test.
For instance, you have got 7 bands in three modules but got 5 in one module. Then instead of taking the full test again, you can appear in one module only. This is called IELTS One Skill Retake. How nice!
Now if you want to improve your score on one test skill, you can retake any of the four IELTS skills – Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking. This scheme has been established in a few countries but will be available worldwide by the end of 2023.

How it works:
You went to the Original test day. If you are not happy with your results:
- Book IELTS One Skill Retake, and appear in your desired module.
- Then complete IELTS One Skill Retake within 60 days of your original test day.
Requirements for British Council IELTS One Skill Retake 2023
- You can only book the IELTS one-skill retake if you’ve completed a full IELTS on-computer test.
- You must also have received your results.
- You can only retake one skill once per the original test.
- You must sit the One Skill Retake within 60 days of your original test.
Availability of IELTS One Skill Retake Test
IELTS One Skill Retake is available or currently launching in Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Rwanda, Singapore, Thailand, and Uganda and will continue to be set up worldwide in selected British Council test locations in late 2023.
Result of IELTS One Skill Retake
You will get a new Test Report Form. This includes your updated IELTS One Skill Retake score as well as the results for the other three skills in the original test. You can choose whether you use your original or your new Test Report Form.
