After this, the University nominates the candidate for the scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and foreign citizens are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier CGS.
- You must be nominated by only one Canadian institution which must have received a Vanier CGS quota
- You must be pursuing your first doctoral degree (including joint programs such as MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, or JD/PhD, MBA/PhD – if it has a demonstrated and significant research component)

Steps to Apply
- First, you have to apply to Canadian universities which are under Vanier Canada. or just go to this link. As earlier mentioned, every university has its own deadline, so you have to check with the university.
- You can apply to ONE University only for Vanier. The University will evaluate your profile and nominate you.
- Then the Vanier will make the Final Decision.
